A woman from a town in Tanzania has died after she was bitten by a rat in her home, local media said.
The 26-year-old woman was in the town of Kepo in the Central African Republic when she was attacked by a raccoon in her house on Sunday.
Local media said she was taken to hospital where she later died.
The woman’s death has triggered widespread outrage among her fellow villagers, who have blamed the woman for the rodent attack.
The villagers have alleged the woman was responsible for the deaths of six men, one of whom was found dead by villagers.
Local residents have also accused the woman of stealing clothes from her home and stealing money from the town’s charity centre.
Local news reports said the woman’s relatives are demanding her immediate arrest and her headstone be removed.
The country is one of Africa’s poorest and most resource-poor nations.
