It’s been a rough couple of years for Korean clothing brands, which have struggled to maintain their global relevance and appeal in the face of the competition in the booming adult apparel market.
According to a recent report from market research firm IDC, the Korean clothing market has contracted for the third consecutive year, falling 12.7% year-on-year.
The report also said that the Korean apparel industry had experienced a “mixed” performance over the past six months, with apparel companies reporting a drop of 2.9% in their sales, and 3.5% in sales from new brands.
While the overall trend for apparel sales is slowing, some of the major brands have been able to take advantage of the current environment to increase their revenue while keeping up with their competitors.
One notable exception to the trend is the brand of Korean boy’s clothing company, Hana, which has seen a 12% increase in its overall sales.
It has recently released its first ever collection of boy’s apparel in the U.S. and Canada, and it is the largest boy’s brand in the world.
Other major brands like American Eagle, H&M, and Levi’s have also continued to expand their brands in the United States, while also releasing more adult-focused clothing for women.
The new collections of the two-time reigning Korean boy icon are set to hit shelves later this month.
Here are some of Hana’s best-selling items in 2018.
